Dean Madden, Box & Charnock’s site supervisor at Berkeley Homes’ Woodberry Down regeneration scheme has come up with a new safety slogan – Think Safe: Act Safe: Be Safe – in a competition aimed at reinforcing health and safety as a number one priority across the business.
Reflecting the health and safety culture within the company, all Box & Charnock high vis vests will carry the slogan as a reminder to staff to take responsibility for their own and their colleagues’ safety whilst on site.
The slogan competition is part of the ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, which will also see the development and implementation of a new company health and safety code of practice document during 2015.
All employees have also been issued with an Employee Site Safety Guide which features a summary of do’s and don’ts around many of the key activities on site and underlines the responsibility everyone has to help prevent injury and ill health whilst at work.
Industry statistics show that the higher risk activities are usually managed very well on site. The problems usually occur in the more routine day to day tasks where someone may lose concentration for a moment. Box & Charnock intend to maintain its excellent health and safety record and the slogan initiative, new guide book, minimum training standards and regular toolbox talks are part of that drive.
Dean received John Lewis vouchers to the value of £150 and a framed high vis vest with slogan for his efforts. Well done Dean!
