Scott has been awarded Apprentice of the Year from Basingstoke College of Technology after successfully completing level 2 year 1 of his plumbing apprenticeship.
Scott joined Box & Charnock 4 years ago and as part of the company’s Pathways programme embarked on a modern plumbing apprenticeship ‘to gain the qualifications I need to get on in life.”
“Basingstoke College run a very tight ship,” said Scott. “They are strict and very thorough in the way they run the courses. Some students don’t like that but I do, it means we learn everything text book fashion and do things the way they should be done. I’m a very organised person and the tutor was particularly impressed with the way I maintain my van and look after my tools which are all stored away neatly.”
Eddie Bergin, Course Director Plumbing, at the College said “Scott is the top student in the group and always shows enthusiasm and initiative in all the work he undertakes, producing work of a high standard. He is keen and knowledgeable and has the skills and ability to easily progress to level 3 on the successful completion of his level 2. A shining example to the rest of the group.”
Scott is part of Box & Charnock’s housing team and is currently working on Countryside’s development at Dollis Valley. “ I feel very positive about my future with Box & Charnock and once I complete the apprenticeship in the Spring next year I plan to continue my education by undertaking the next logical step which is training to become a gas safe engineer.”
Well done Scott!
